Following its recent launch, aQmen has made remarkable progress in moving forward with its education initiative, Project ‘CATALYSST’, where underprivileged children receive the ‘world’s best education’ for free. Iraq may be the first nation in line to benefit from this grandiose venture undertaken by Qamar Rizvi, aQmen’s President and CEO.

Iraq was chosen due to the progress the country has made in stabilizing its government, its pursuit for democracy and its severe lack of education infrastructure, which has left millions of innocent children in dire circumstances. According to Mr. Rizvi, the whole intention of Project ‘CATALYSST’, (Cognitive Approach That Advances the Lives of Youth and Stimulates Societal Transformation) was to benefit countries like Iraq, where innocent children have long endured unthinkable hardships. Aware of the enormity of his task, Mr. Rizvi points out “our job is not to finish the project but to initiate it. To be the catalyst,” he says.
On his recent visit to Iraq, Mr. Rizvi met with numerous dignitaries, government officials and business leaders as part of his survey and assessment tour. In addition his restless agenda included countless school visits where he engaged with teachers, students and parents. “The response has just been amazing,” exclaimed Mr. Rizvi. “I am looking forward to launching our pilot program here very soon,” he reflected.
When in operation, the school will be the first of its kind that will put to test the most advanced research and syllabus adopted from the world’s best school systems, such as Finland, Japan, Denmark, Singapore, etc. Its goal is provide a holistic education that will focus on both cognitive & character development so as to graduate just stellar students, but also strong leaders and upright citizens, whom Mr. Rizvi envisions will be the catalyst for a better, peaceful and prosperous Iraq.
As Mr. Rizvi describes, “the mission is not just to open a school but to open people’s minds”. In time he hopes to gain accreditation from reputable institutes such as PISA and Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) as he expands the initiative to other deserving countries worldwide.
